「第 1 回 九州美術大学成果展」に出展された本作 『Resistance』は、オーストリアへの留学中に撮影し た写真から着想を得た作品です。油彩とキャンバスプリントを用いたミクストメディア作品です。

この作品は、日本特有の就職活動プロセスに対する嫌 悪感というコンセプトに基づいています。一般的に、 日本の大学では、卒業後に新卒として就職するのが当 たり前だという先入観があります。その結果、就職活動シーズンになると、学生たちは大学時代に懸命に取り組んだ成果である「ガクチカ(学生時代に力を入れ得たこと)」について書き始めます。しかし、多くの学生は面接に臨む際、これらの「ガクチカ」を誇張した 表現や嘘で飾り立ててしまいます。こうした社会的背景に対する嫌悪感を、私は修士課程に進む一員として、 異なる道を選ぶことへの不安とともに、写真の上に絵の具を重ねることで、自身の皮肉と抵抗を表現しました。

This work, “resistance,” exhibited at the “ 第 1 回 九州美術大学成果展 ” was inspired by a photograph taken while studying abroad in Austria. It is a mixed media artwork using oil paintings and canvas prints.

This work is based on a concept of aversion toward Japan’s typical job-hunting process. Generally, there’s a prejudice in Japanese universities that it’s standard practice to work as a first-year employee after graduation. Consequently, when job-hunting season arrives, students begin writing about their “gakuchika”— the achievements they worked hard for during their university years. However, most students approach interviews by embellishing these “Gakuchika” stories with exaggerated expressions and lies. Against this societal backdrop, I expressed my own sarcasm and resistance as someone pursuing a master’s degree, along with the anxiety of choosing a different path, by layering paint onto the surface of photographs.
