この作品は、私たちの視覚と、客観的な事実との間の深い溝を探求します。作品に用いられている赤と青緑の光は、物理的に同じ明るさに設定されています。しかし、鑑賞者がこの薄暗い空間に数分間留まると、視覚は環境に順応し始めます。光そのものは変化しませんが、プルキンエ現象により、空間における鑑賞者の位置によって、青緑の光だけが、あたかも勝手に明るくなったかのように知覚が絶えず変化し続けます。

「Just Give It a Minute」というタイトルは、この作品が鑑賞者の「待つ」という行為を通して初めて成立するという、光と視覚の相互依存の構造を示しています。

This work explores the profound disconnect between our vision and objective reality. The red and cyan lights used in the piece are physically set to the same brightness. However, when the viewer remains in this dimly lit space for a few minutes, their vision begins to adapt to the environment. Although the light itself does not change, due to the Purkinje effect, the viewer’s perception of the blue-green light continues to shift constantly depending on their position within the space, as if it were brightening of its own accord.

The title ‘Just Give It a Minute’ highlights the interdependent relationship between light and vision, indicating that this work only comes into being through the viewer’s act of ‘waiting’.
